What is a Citizens Information Service

The national network of Citizens Information Centres is there for the benefit of the community and backed by Comhairle.

The Centres have access to up-to-date information on all matters of public concern, i.e. Health, Social Welfare, Taxation, Housing, Consumer Affairs and other matters including information on local organisations and services your entitlements, the best options that are open to you, receive help filling out a form, following up your enquiry or with an appeal if necessary.

This service is delivered by qualified information officers who receive training and back-up from Comhairle.

Opening Hours

Monday-Friday:
9.30 am - 5.00 pm (incl. lunch)

Free Legal Advice Clinic

Thursday evening 7-8 pm (by Appointment).

Consumer Clinic

An inspector from the Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs is available to the public each month.

Why are they there?

Where else can you get all your information under one roof?

If you have a social welfare question, it is likely that there is a taxation, health or housing aspect to that same question. At the CIC, the whole situation is considered and all the information made available to you without hassle.

There is no charge for the service, it is not necessary to make an appointment, your enquiry will be treated in the strictest confidence, your local cic is independent of all statutory services.

Your local cic can provide up to date information on services including: Consumer affairs, Education opportunities, Employment rights, Disability information, Family issues, Financial matters health services, housing, insurance, justice, Rural issues, social issues, Taxation, Travel and communication, Local voluntary organisations.

The Citizen Information Centre philosophy is that you have the right to know. We will help you to find out, and to avoid the bureaucratic tangle.

Bindon Lane, (opposite the Main Post Office on Bindon Street), Ennis Co. Clare. The centre is accessible to people with disabilities and has parking facilities at the back of the building.
